Getting started

1. Download and open Crew

Use the Crew download supplied for your release and follow its installation instructions. Open Crew on a Mac with macOS 26.1 or later.

2. Name your Chief of Staff

On Meet your Chief of Staff, enter a Name and choose a look. The preview shows how your Chief will appear. Follow the remaining first-run screens.

3. Connect your Claude account

When setup asks you to connect Claude Code, sign in with the account your Chief should use. Use Check Sign-In when that button is shown. If setup says it cannot check the account, make sure you have signed in to the intended account before continuing.

4. Review your first request

Read the request before choosing Allow or Deny. Allow only the action you want Crew to take. A request waiting for your answer is not a completed action.

5. Turn on Presenting before a stream

Before sharing your screen, turn on Presenting Mode with Control–Command–P. Check the visible window before starting the stream; do not assume every kind of screen capture hides the same content.

6. Find Help again

Choose Crew Help from the Help menu. Keyboard Shortcuts is in the profile menu, and Command–/ opens the shortcut reference in builds that include it.
