CrewInstall Crew
Crew installs like any Mac app, with no administrator password. It has two parts: the Crew app, and Crew Core, a helper that runs in the background while you’re logged in.
You need a Mac with macOS 26.1 or later. Crew doesn’t open on an older macOS.
1 · Download
Request an invite (Crew is invite-only for now); when yours is ready, open the Crew disk image.
2 · Move it to Applications
Drag Crew into the Applications folder in your home folder (your user name › Applications). If that folder doesn’t exist yet, make it in Finder first. The Applications shortcut inside the disk image points to the Mac’s main Applications folder, which can ask for an administrator’s password on a standard account, so use your own. When it’s copied, eject the disk image.
3 · Open it the first time
Open Crew from your Applications folder. macOS checks it and asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet: choose Open. That’s the only question macOS should ask. If it says the app is damaged, can’t be checked or comes from an unidentified developer, don’t open it: email support@fift.studio.
4 · The background helper
When Crew starts, it turns on Crew Core, and macOS shows a notice that a background item was added. Crew Core keeps your crew’s records on this Mac and runs while you’re logged in. You can turn it off in Crew’s Settings.
5 · Where it shows in Login Items
System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions lists Crew there. If you remove Crew later, check that list is empty of Crew. See Uninstalling Crew.
6 · Setting up
Crew then walks you through a short setup: your Chief of Staff’s name, a little about you, your first project and its folder, and connecting Claude. Talk opens when it’s done.
