An unavailable plan is not an empty plan, and it does not mean no work is done. Crew can show progress only after it has a usable reading from your project.
Not read yet
The project's machine has not reported a plan reading. There is no recorded plan to show yet. A project whose folder has not been connected also cannot supply a plan reading; a missing connection is not evidence of an empty project.
Unreadable or invalid
An unreadable plan could not be read or parsed. An invalid plan was read but did not meet the plan's format rules. In either case, Crew withholds that reading's plan rather than presenting a partial result as complete.
The reported reason helps distinguish these cases. Reconnecting alone does not repair an invalid plan file.
Stale
A stale reading is an old observation. The plan may still be available, but it cannot establish the project's current state. Crew marks a reading stale once it is more than ten minutes old. A stale reading is not proof that a thread stopped or that an item changed status.
When a fresh usable reading arrives, Crew can show the updated plan. Until then, missing progress stays unknown rather than becoming zero.
What the Versions widget shows
When no plan has been read for a project, the Versions widget says Not measured yet. When its reading is old, it says as of and the time it was read.
