Pairing this Mac

Pairing gives this Mac its own approval key, kept in its Secure Enclave. When you press Allow, your answer is signed with that key, and Crew checks the signature before anything runs.

At first run

Crew’s first run has a step called Approve from this Mac. On a Mac that has never been paired, it turns approvals on by itself, with no code. You can choose Skip for Now; risky steps can then only be declined until you pair in Settings › Devices.

With a code

Open Crew’s Settings and choose Devices.
Choose Show a Code. Crew’s helper shows a 6-digit code in an alert on this Mac.
Type it into Pairing code and choose Pair This Mac.

A code works once, for 5 minutes. If an alert shows a code you didn’t ask for, ignore it.

If it doesn’t work

That code doesn’t match. Check the alert and type it again.
The code expired. Show a new code and type it again.
Too many wrong tries. After 5 wrong tries a code stops working. Show a new code.
This Mac’s old approval key was turned off. Crew made a new one: show a new code to pair it.

Settings › Devices shows whether this Mac is paired.
