Project stages

Each project room can show one line across the top: the project's name, the five stages Idea, Setup, Build, Launch and Run with the current one lit, then its CEO, North Star and Next milestone. A parked project dims the line and says Parked. An old reading shows as of and the time.

How the stage is worked out

Crew on this Mac works the stage out from what it already knows. The first match wins:

• Run: the project is marked as launched or as a company.
• Launch: it has a launch checklist.
• Build: it has plan items.
• Setup: it has a setup checklist or a north star.
• Idea: none of these yet.

There's no stage picker in the app yet.

Widgets for the stage

When the room is missing a stage's suggested widgets, a button such as Add Launch widgets adds them. It only adds: nothing is removed or moved. Two widgets come with stages: Competitors ("Who else does this?") and CEO weekly ("What did the CEO get done this week?").

Click the project's name to see its page: Instructions, Knowledge, Memory and Conversations. When Crew doesn't know something, it says why, such as No north star yet, instead of showing a zero.

Turn it on

The app's side is on. The line also needs Project stages in Crew on this Mac. Whether it's on shows in Settings › Features. If that pane lists it, you can turn it on there; if the pane says Crew on this Mac doesn’t list its features yet, this isn't switched on in your version. A switch there applies right away. Only the owner sees a project's page.

The road to launch

Crew on this Mac can also work out a project's road to launch: how much of the plan has shipped, what's still to code, what's built and waiting to merge, and what rides the next release. Crew on this Mac on your Mac works this out by default.

The road comes from Plan status (see Edit your plan), so it's only current while Plan status runs. Without it the stages are left out, and a reading more than five minutes old is marked stale. The Work page that draws the road is not switched on in the app in this version yet. Your Chief can read the same road.
