Feature switches

Features the Crew app treats as finished start on, so there's no switch to find for them; some built features still start off, and their pages say so. Settings › Features lists Crew's own features, says whether each is on, and lets the owner switch the ones that can be switched.

Where to find it

Open Crew › Settings… (⌘,) and choose Features. The list comes from Crew on this Mac, and only the owner can see it.

On a Mac set up with the Crew app, Crew on this Mac doesn't list its features yet. There the page says “Crew on this Mac doesn’t list its features yet.” and there is nothing to switch. Features that are off stay off in your version. The rest of this page describes the pane when Crew on this Mac does list them.

What a row tells you

Each row names the feature and says what it does. Its state is one of:

On: it's working.
Off: it isn't running.
Shadow: it's on, but it only watches. It acts on nothing.
Set on your Mac: Crew can't see this one, so its state is unknown.

Needs X on first means that switch can't be turned on until X is on.

Now or at the next restart

Each row says when a change takes effect:

Applies now: it takes effect straight away.
Applies at next restart: your choice takes effect when Crew on this Mac next restarts. Until then the row says Switched · applies when Crew on this Mac next restarts.

Undo and Use Default

After a change, a line at the top of the page says what happened, with Undo to take it back. Use Default appears on a row you have switched. It drops your choice, so the feature goes back to how Crew starts it. A switch that touches money, credentials, sending, or what's on your threads' screens asks you to confirm first.

Crew never shows a switch as on before Crew on this Mac has applied it.

What you can't switch here

Set on your Mac: these are set by the part of Crew that runs on your Mac, not by Crew on this Mac. They're listed without a switch.
Not built yet: these features aren't finished yet.

Not every feature is on this page, because some belong to the app itself. Each one's help page says whether it's on.
