Agents mode

Agents mode puts every agent side by side on your canvas, so you can see who is doing what. Your Chief of Staff and each conversation get a tile, and you can add a thread's live terminal too.

Switch to Agents and back

• Click Agents at the top right of the canvas, or press ⌥⌘A.
• View › Agents does the same. In Agents mode the item reads View › Back to Dashboard (⌥⌘A).
• The View options menu (⋮) at the top of the canvas lists Dashboard and Agents under Layout.

To go back, click ‹ Dashboard at the top left of the tiles, press Esc, or press ⌥⌘A again. The top bar stays in place while you're in Agents mode, and Crew always opens on the Dashboard.

What a tile shows

Tiles are ordered by what needs you: Needs you first, then Stuck, Working, Idle and Stopped. Each shows its name, its state and one line on what it is doing now.

• A conversation tile is the real chat. You can read, answer a card or type, as in Talk. Flip it between Chat and Terminal to see the same conversation as its live terminal.
• Click a tile's header to make it full size. ‹ Every agent takes you back.
• In Agents mode, ⌘0 shows your Chief.

Watch a thread's terminal

Drag a thread's dot or row onto the tiles to add its live terminal. Remove it with the × on its tile. Crew remembers which threads you added on this Mac.

A thread's terminal is read-only. To type into it, choose Take over. A bar says You're typing into thread and the thread's name, and your keys go to its terminal as you type, Esc included (it interrupts Claude, or leaves an editor, in that thread). Choose Done, ‹ Stop typing or press ⌃⌘. to stop. Only one thread can be taken over at a time, and leaving Agents mode ends it.

If your Mac's part of Crew can't show thread terminals yet, the tile says so, and Take over stays off.

Esc in Agents mode

Esc steps back one level: it leaves a full-size tile, then returns to the Dashboard. While you're typing into a thread, Esc goes to that thread's terminal; ⌃⌘. stops typing. In a small tile, Esc only closes an open confirmation. It never denies a command or stops a reply there. In a full-size tile, Esc works as it does in Claude Code.

While you're Presenting

Take over is not available, and turning Presenting on stops any typing into a thread. Chats and thread terminals are covered.
